Position Overview:
PACHS is seeking a Surgical Technologist to scrub for and assist physicians during surgical and endoscopic procedures. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in aseptic techniques, sterilization, and patient preparation, as well as able to effectively manage surgical instruments and equipment in the OR.
Key Responsibilities:

Scrub for surgeries and assist surgeons during surgical and endoscopic procedures.

Follow aseptic techniques to ensure sterile conditions are maintained during surgeries.

Prepare, pass, and handle surgical instruments, sutures, and supplies as needed.

Assist with draping patients and gowning/gloving surgical team members while maintaining a sterile field.

Conduct instrument and sponge counts before, during, and after procedures with the circulating nurse.

Clean tables and instruments after surgeries, ensuring proper sterilization and preparation for the next procedure.

Help maintain surgical packs, autoclave instruments, and manage sterile supplies.

Ensure all surgical preference cards are up to date by reviewing with the Head Nurse.

Assist with specimen handling, including preserving and labeling as needed.

Participate in emergency situations calmly, obtaining equipment quickly when needed.

Participate in the orientation and training of new staff.

Engage in self-development and attend in-service programs and learning opportunities.

Demonstrate the ability to manage stress, adapt to change, and handle challenging situations professionally.

Attend unit meetings and in-service training sessions regularly.

Actively participate in committees to improve nursing care practices.

Ensure compliance with Medicare regulations and policies.

Perform other duties as needed within the operating room.
Requirements:
-
High school graduate or GED required.
-
Graduate of an accredited surgical technician program or prior work experience as a surgical technician is desirable.

BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.

Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call shifts.

Basic computer skills.

Maintain certification for assigned work area.
