Position Overview
Palo Alto County Health System (PACHS) is seeking a dedicated Surgical RN to join our Surgical Services team. This role involves circulating during surgical and endoscopy procedures, patient preparation, and documentation. Additional responsibilities include administering IV Conscious Sedation, recovering patients post-operatively, and assisting with cleaning and sterilizing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain aseptic techniques and assist in setting up the room for procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures and transport them to and from the surgical suite.
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and gowning the surgical team.
- Assist with sponge, sharps, and instruments counts during surgical procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide necessary instruments and supplies.
- Operate and troubleshoot OR equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure proper documentation.
- Follow aseptic techniques and universal precautions.
- Handle and label specimens accurately.
- Monitor and document during procedures and recovery.
- Clean and restock the surgery suite and instruments.
- Maintain and update surgical preference cards.
- Handle confidential information with discretion.
- Function well in emergency situations and handle stress and adjust to change.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with BLS, ACLS & PALS certification.
- 1-2 years of operating room experience.
- Understanding of OR processes and procedures.
