Position Summary

Palo Alto County Health System is seeking a dedicated Staff Physical Therapist Assistant to join our Rehabilitation Services team. This role involves delivering high-quality physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The ideal candidate will be passionate about patient care, skilled in therapeutic procedures, and committed to supporting departmental operations and patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver physical therapy services in accordance with an established plan of care.
  • Perform delegated therapeutic procedures and related tasks.
  • Document treatment progress accurately and timely.
  • Assist in maintaining departmental procedures and policies.
  • Support program development and departmental initiatives.
  • Supervise rehabilitation aides and PTA students as needed.
  • Provide care to patients of all ages and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Comply with the Iowa Physical Therapy Practice Act and APTA standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Must meet requirements outlined in Chapter 201 of the Iowa Practice Act.

Experience:

  • One year of experience preferred, but not required.

Licensure & Certification:

  • Current Iowa PTA license required.
  • Valid Iowa Driver's License.
  • Certification for assigned work area must be maintained.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Comfortable working with multicultural and multigenerational populations.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Flexibility in work hours and adaptability to change.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs with assistance).
  • Exposure to medical waste, blood products, and various environmental conditions.
  • Requires use of hand tools, documentation systems, and patient transport equipment.
  • Must be able to travel and occasionally work irregular hours.
